This work explores the idea of Catholic guilt, the evolution and manifestation of this on the people in the faith. The concept firstly arose during a visit to a sexuality and coming out exhibition during which, she felt taken aback by a full-frontal nude. Her innate reaction was to feel shame and embarrassment, which she questioned and put down to her Catholic guilt.
Through speaking to priests and people of the faith, Rebecca pinned this notion of guilt to what happens within the confession boxes, the process of confessing and the language used in the prayers during this sacrament.
